I’m watching old episodes of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai as I write this. It’s a show that first aired 12 years ago.

It’s one of the best sitcoms that has aired even a decade later. Sitcoms and good comedy is a rare phenomenon in India. Humour has gotten crass and vulgar and only we are to blame for that as we’ve settled for these standards.

Whatever happened to the good old days of clean comedy? The Bombay to Goas, Chupke Chupkes and Jaane Bhi Do Yaarons of the world? No matter what, they never fail to make me laugh whenever I watch them. These were clean comedies that never failed to amuse me.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is the only sitcom in India in recent times that has made me feel this way. Spot on casting (even the minor characters), great timing and fantastic direction. Recently the producers announced a season 2, in a limited timeframe web series format. I was overjoyed when I heard about it. I absolutely look forward to watching it and relishing the eccentric quirks of Maya, Indravadan, Rosesh, Sahil, Monisha, Dushyant and Madhu Bhai.

That’s all for tonight!
