I know what you are thinking. WTF is that??? Is that a Gundam Wing Mobile Suit with FUCKING ANGEL WINGS??? Yes, my friends, yes it is. If you are thinking I am about to sell you on a fucking anime movie, well, buckle your fucking seat belts because you are fucking right!

Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz is the greatest animated movie of all time. Yep, I said it. Deal with it! Throw out Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle and all that other bullshit. You know what, you can even throw out all of the Pixar BS too, yep, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, even Wall-E. SUCK IT KIDS! None of that cry-me-a-river bullshit holds a fucking candle to Endless Waltz.

Before we get into it, you should know what that “Angel of Death” is in the picture. That is Wing Gundam Zero, the most powerful mobile suit ever created. What is a mobile suit? A mobile suit is an advanced weapon machine capable of ground/space flight and combat. Armed with laser rifles, beam sabers, and regular old machine gun cannons, these humanoid-like suits are built for one purpose and one purpose only: to destroy. Now you may be thinking this is some super nerdy outdated anime bullshit. But you would be wrong. Mecha, as the genre is known, is actually alive and well. It was most recently seen in Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 Pacific Rim. Yeah, that movie where humans use giant mobile suits to fight interdementional monsters? The movie made like half a billion dollars. Endless Waltz is One Hundred Fucking Times Better Than That Crap.

Ugh, sorry for all the swearing, but I am three Redbulls deep and amped up! Endless Waltz tells the story of the war that rages on between planet earth and the colonies of Space. (Yep, we colonized Space.) Earth is oppressing the Space colonies so five advanced mobile suits are created to aid the colonies in their rebellion against Earth. The movie is a continuation of the EPIC TV series. I would recommend watching all 49 episodes before the movie (because they are that fucking good) but you don’t have to. The movie stands alone. And it is gorgeous.

It’s just a beautiful movie. From the drawing, to the writing, to the characters, to the action sequences, it’s beautiful to watch. It also may have the greatest title of any movie ever: Endless Waltz. Has there ever been a better metaphor for the endlessness that is war? I don’t think so. “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” I would write something about how this obviously translates to the modern day, but you are all smart enough to figure that out.

So, yeah, trust me on this one. If you are going to watch one anime movie it should be this one. Or that episode of DBZ where Gohan kills Cell. But that is the greatest anime TV episode of all time and we are talking movies. So just go watch Endless Waltz. You can thank me later.
