I know what you are all thinking. Why continue using this cliche phrase? Are they trying to be funny? Do they believe it is witty? Well, no. I won’t deny that I enjoy dad jokes like any other, but that’s not the main reason that drove to this title choice.

But what is “Hello world!” nowadays besides a lousy meme? It is for many of us the title of the first chapter of a computer language book, or the result of the article where you learn a new framework, or the first couple of lines we learned in a new world. In the same sense, this blog represents the same for us, a fresh start in unknown territory.

Applaudo Studios started back in 2013, and since then, we have done incredible things for our customers, with the goal of having the best talent working top tech with the highest quality standard. We are very proud of this work, we are passionate about it, and now we think it is time to share some of those stories.

Our cultural history

Sharing knowledge is something we enjoy doing and is part of the values that has made us successful. I remember back in 2015 when were fewer than 20 engineers, and everyone knew each other; when someone faced a problem or needed help, they just stood up and walked to a developer they knew could help to them tackle the issue. It was natural, organic, something we enjoyed doing.

At the beginning of 2018, we were already more than 100 engineers, and it was becoming hard to get to know everyone. Internal networking was necessary to achieve the same result as before, still something doable and gladly received by the team involved.

By the end of 2018, we launched a new role known as the Technology Practice Lead. Part of their responsibilities is to be a hub of everything their tech, lead the discussions, and bring help and companion to developers looking for advice and support. They also guide our internal huddles: weekly tech talks where we discuss the latest trends and tendencies for each of our major techs.

The present

In February 2022, we have more than 40 technology leaders, between Practice Leads, Architects, Principal Engineers, Leads, and Tech Managers, serving a community of more than 500 engineers.

It is no longer possible to know everyone; we are now more intentional rather than organic, but sharing knowledge stills comes natural to us. We still enjoy solving problems together as a team; we enjoy being humble and curious, heated discussions, and mastering new tech.

We believe this Tech Blog is a step to continue this path, and we are excited to communicate what we do with a bigger audience.
