In an interview with Axios, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said his company hopes to get Apple’s business back. Earlier in 2020, Apple announced its transition from Intel chipsets to their inherent SoC. Later in November of 2020, Apple launched its first set of Mac computers with the M1 processor.

Though Apple’s transition has been slow, it has been noteworthy. The M1 processor is fast and power-efficient. However, the tech giant didn’t reserve its M1 processor for Macs. They went ahead and launched the latest iPad Pro with a Mac-based processor. As far as benchmark testings are concerned, Apple Silicon has overpowered Intel’s chipsets.

Moreover, recently, Apple introduced a faster and more powerful version of the M1 chipset on the 2021 MacBook Pro models. The M1 Pro and Max, as Apple calls them, promise to be lightning-fast in comparison to its first M1 processor as well as leaps and bounds ahead of Intel and other chipsets. If Apple’s keynote and claims are anything to go by, the M1 Pro and Max chipsets are truly revolutionary.

In a recent interview, Intel’s CEO admitted that Apple did a better job creating their homegrown chipset. However, Intel still believes that it can do a better job and make a processor that’ll be better than Apple’s M1. Also, Gelsinger is banking on developers who might force Apple to switch back to Intel as the processor-making company is vocal about creating an open ecosystem.

Earlier, many thought Apple would fail due to lesser adoption from developers, which was proven wrong as the Cupertino tech giant successfully created a good market share, especially with the M1-powered MacBook Air. Now that both Apple and Intel have broken off, there are slight chances that Apple would shift back to Intel processors in Macs. Furthermore, if the current upgrade to M1 Pro and Max is anything to go about, Apple will only increase the performance of its inherent processors in the years to come.
