What is SIBO?

This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is the name for chronic digestive issues. It is often just dismissed, but recently it is being studied. I feel that when your stomach bacteria is out of whack, you just don’t feel right.

In my opinion, genetically modified foods are playing havoc on our stomach and intestines. Many people are turning to gluten-free foods because they think that will make them feel better. However, if you are eating gluten-free foods that still have genetically modified vegetables in them, I do not believe you will feel better. When food is genetically modified, you are eating “frankenfood.”

According to Meredith Murray, ND the SIBO symptoms are as follows:

Digestive Track

Abdominal bloating (gas)

Belching and spells gas

Abdominal pain

Abdominal cramping

Change in bowel movements (constipation, diarrhea or both)

Nausea

Heartburn (reflux or GERD)

Fat in your stool

Deficient in B12 and Iron

Outside of the Digestive Track

Fatigue

Weight Loss

Headache

Joint Pain

Skin Issues: rashes eczema

Mood symptoms

Brain food

When you take an antibiotic, it takes care of all of the bacteria, especially in your stomach. The overuse of antibiotics causes stomach problems and the above symptoms. When you take an antibiotic, please take a probiotic. It will keep the flora and bacteria in your stomach where it needs to be and help alleviate problems.

Your body has many mechanisms that prevent overgrowth of bacteria. When your body functions are disrupted, say by an antibiotic, it wants to fix the problem, so it goes into overtime. When this happens, the other unnatural symptoms begin.

So what can you do? First of all, control what you eat. Eat things that grow without pesticides and GMO’s. Stay away from processed foods and sugar. Sugar is toxic. Even the PET test which is a test that they use to find cancer is radioactive sugar. Once this sugar is injected, it goes to the cancer cells to feed them and that is how they see the cancer, scary huh? Americans eat more sugar than any other country. You are what you eat, choose wisely.

Talk to your physician about your different options for antibiotics. There are many out there that are milder and easier on your stomach. If you have to take an antibiotic, please make sure that you take a probiotic. When your stomach is a mess, certain nutrients cannot be absorbed correctly.

Reduce stress it will help you in more ways than you can imagine. There is a connection between your gut and your brain. Exercise is a great stress reducer and releases feel-good hormones.
