Why do we get sick?

People really don’t get disease, our cells do. Our cells age and become diseased and that is what makes us sick. Strangely enough, our body’s health is very dependent on our cells health. If you want to slow down aging and put a limit on sickness and prevent disease then cellular protection is of the utmost importance. We need to learn how to properly feed our cells.

Just to give you a little biology refresher cells are made up of many atoms. Healthy atoms allow for the cell to make an exact copy of themselves. This will keep your body strong, youthful and free of disease. Healthy atoms have “paired” electrons. If an atom is missing an electron they steel an electron from another cell. This is called a Free Radical. Free Radicals actually cause death to another cell, like some people they are greedy. However cells that replicate in a deformed and damaged state can cause and contribute to premature aging, sickness, cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis and many other diseases.

Free radicals are everywhere. They can come from smoking, stress, sunlight, pesticides, pollution, airplanes, medications, foods, processed food and food additives, x-rays, overdoing exercise, fluoride, treated water, seafood contaminated with mercury, and even fillings, and there are many more. Cigarette smoking alone generates about one quadrillion free radicals.

There is a solution to this crazy problem and it is called antioxidants. Antioxidants are prepared to defend your body because they have extra electrons that they give to the hungry free radicals and when they do this it eliminates the harmful effects of the free radicals. Antioxidants are in a sense your fighting army against free radicals and thus against aging and disease. They stop the chain reaction of poor cell reproduction which causes inflammation and sickness.

Antioxidants are easy to get. They come from fruits and vegetables, nuts, oils, beans and many other natural products. If it is made in a factory it is not natural, and if you read a label and cannot pronounce the ingredients then it isn’t natural either. Research has shown that there are higher antioxidants in organic foods. Those grown genetically modified or processed are not as good for cellular growth.

Most Americans do not eat right and the American Medical Association recommends that they supplement with vitamins and minerals but not all are beneficial for your body. If you are taking a medication you need to be careful which vitamins that you take because some can make your medicine less effective even though they contain antioxidants.

Symptoms are things in your body that alert you that something is wrong but they are not the cause of disease. A stuffy nose is a symptom of a cold, a pain in your chest is a symptom of a heart attack. Scientists now believe that free radicals are causal factors in nearly every known disease from heart attacks to arthritis, even cancer and heart attacks. They are the main culprit in the aging process. By controlling free radicals with antioxidants success is made. Antioxidants are your defense against disease and aging.

Antioxidants limit the number of free radicals in your body. When free radical get out of control they cause oxidation, think of that as rust in your body breaking it down and causing inflammation and pain. It is not just fat that causes the build-up of fatty deposits in your arteries causing the lack of blood flow leading to a heart attack or stroke. This fat is “sticky” or oxidized fat. This type of fat makes it easy to stick to the walls of your arteries and cause a blockage.

It is all your choice, you can choose to be sick or you can choose to be healthy. My advice is to eat the natural colors of the rainbow organically. Fight off those free radicals with tons of antioxidants your body will love you for it.
