Almost a year later, the Apploi developer team found themselves back in Medellin. The award winning city recognized by some of the largest organizations is home to hundreds of tech companies, employing over 8,000 professionals. It’s become known as the Latin America Silicon Valley.

The main reason for the team’s return was PyCon Colombia 2020. PyCon is the largest annual gathering for the community using and developing the open-source Python programming language. Produced by the Python Software Foundation, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of Python.

Backend developer Kevin Hernandez spoke about Python internals, code of the Python core, and why specific features are designed and implemented in certain ways. Frontend developer Miguel Bolivar discussed the challenges of maintaining a larger projects from the engineering perspective, specifically when it comes to scalability and performance.

Aside from the speaking opportunities, our team was able to meet and hear from other keynote developers and speakers from around the world. We are always looking forward to participating in many more conferences in the future, as we are eager to grow and share our knowledge to help our clients streamline their hiring processes.
