LoadSpring runs 48 out of the top 50 AEC firms’ project management systems with more than $400 billion in capital projects. It is no surprise that their 99.9% uptime SLA guarantee translates to a superior level of customer satisfaction such that 95% of their customers are repeat customers. To achieve one of the highest SLAs in the industry, the LoadSpring cloud operations team manages complex, and dynamic cloud infrastructures with in-house know-how along with leading cloud partners to continuously strive for better resilience on their project management cloud.

When LoadSpring decided to move to Google cloud, they had the choice of using their legacy backup & restore, host replication, storage snapshot-based replication management, and site recovery management systems. These systems were crucial for LoadSpring to maintain their strict SLA guarantees for their customers for their market-leading project management cloud.

Like many other cloud-bound organizations, LoadSpring searched for a cloud-native service that not only reduced the cost, complexity, risk, and effort of dealing with multiple systems but also wanted to avoid third-party data management lock-in by leveraging cloud platforms’ built-in redundant capabilities. LoadSpring’s technology leadership team thought that using cloud-native technologies not only achieved better application resilience but allowed to drop a tremendous amount of technical debt as well as reduce the cost after moving to the cloud.

The Cloud App Resilience solution

After testing Appranix service from the Google Cloud marketplace, LoadSpring signed up to use Appranix’s Cloud Application Resilience service across their production environments starting in Australia. After a few months, Cameron Vixie, CTO of LoadSpring is happy to provide the following comments about Appranix,

LoadSpring has now completely replaced four different systems — local backup and restore, host-based replication for DR, storage snapshot management system to recover from application deployment failures, and site recovery management to recover from complete disasters. Using all the above services to guarantee 99.9% SLA was not only risky but it took too much effort and also introduced unnecessary complexities and cost. All the effort required to maintain the systems is now redirected to rolling out newer features and onboarding new customers. With Appranix Cloud Application Resilience, LoadSpring has now completely replaced all four different systems by leveraging built-in cloud IaaS and data management capabilities that not only increase application resilience to guarantee better SLA but also achieved tremendous cost savings.
