The power of sports is unchallenged, and for those who are able to experience our mountains first hand will know the beauty and thrill you get from skiing or snowboarding. The power of snow-sports is being harnessed to change young people’s live across the UK, so you can get out there and use your passion of skiing or snowboarding to change people’s lives! Here are 3 snowsports non-profits in the UK you can support today:

Snow-Camp

Snow-Camp’s mission is to engage inner-city young people through snowsports to provide life skills training, nationally recognised qualifications and work experience to increase their motivations and aspirations, enabling them to gain employment in the snowsports industry and beyond.

Recently Snow Camp launched their new 180 programme to give young people positive opportunities can turn their lives around.

“Our #Switch180 campaign highlights that we must do more as a society to provide positive opportunities for our young people. At Snow-Camp, our programmes have been successfully changing the direction of young people’s lives since 2003. Last year the young people we worked with transformed their lives”:

  • 100% Gained one or more nationally recognised qualifications.
  • 94% Said they had improved confidence.
  • 98% Said they were proud of themselves.
  • 92% Had improved levels of fitness.
  • 87% Have now gone on to employment, training, further education, or other positive destinations.

Disability Snowsports

Disability Snowsport UK is a people-centred organisation with a unique sense of purpose: that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports.

Mission Statement
“To promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in snowsports and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice.”

Vision Statement
“Skiers & snowboarders with a disability should be able to ski alongside the able bodied as equals at all ski facilities and resorts.”

The Snow Sports Foundation

The Snow Sports Foundation (TSSF) generates funds to promote and deliver individual snow sports opportunities to a range of people who otherwise would not have a chance to experience such activities, either due to additional needs, disability, financial hardship or social circumstances.

Their mission is to ensure that snow sports is made a reality to everyone and that all financial and other barriers are removed. With everybody, whatever their ability, should be able to take part in all form of snowsports!
