It’s been a very challenging year, but like so many communities globally, we’ve managed to create some positives.

As we usher in a new year, here’s a highlight of Appruve events in 2020! Let’s dive in, shall we?

Months ago, we participated at the HiiL Justice Accelerator that rounded off with a pitch session where Appruve came 2nd.

It was our first time at the HiiL Justice Accelerator and throughout the week, we met a lot of brilliant minds at the classes, and workshops as well as at the dinner and reception events.

Months ago, We attended the inaugural edition of the Africa Law Tech Festival, hosted by the Lawyers Hub in Kenya with the support of Omidyar Network.

We also used this event to launch our entry into East Africa, as we spoke about our mission to connect Africans to opportunities globally by providing enabling people to prove their identities.

We had 8 amazing talents join our core team from different parts of the world — Africa, Europe and America included.

These talents included software engineers, UI/UX designers, legal, data analysts, compliance, and customer success officers.

continents, 7.594 billion people and 54 African countries… and our very own Head of Products — Kwame Yeboah was recognized by AfricaLawTech as one of the Top 50 individuals leading in Legal Innovation in Africa.

Despite the effects of the pandemic, people of Appruve (Appruvers) were able to efficiently work out from 6 countries this year as a distributed team including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Italy, and the United States of America.

Our entry into Egypt brought the total number of countries we are live in, to five(5), with the others being Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda. Making Appruve, one of the most extensive data verification platforms in Africa.

We are currently in the beta testing phase with financial services partners in Francophone and Southern Africa.

…Is the number of Webinars we hosted this year!

  1. Our first webinar “Introducing Appruve API and SDK to developers across Africa’’ was presented by Laud Bruce -Tagoe, our Chief Technology Officer here at Appruve. The session was moderated by Anthony Acquah, the head of Third Party Services at Nfortics.

In the webinar, we covered:

1) Appruve Identity and Its core capabilities

2) Appruve dashboard and API documentation

3) Setting up an account, test and live accounts

4) Appruve Agency Mobile SDK, functionality and documentation

5)Use case for deploying Appruve Identity and Agency

6) Support and customer success from Appruve

2) In our second webinar, our Chief Product Officer, Kwame Yeboah addressed how to ensure regulatory compliance and prevent fraud while rolling out digital channels in Africa. This session was moderated by Desmond Israel, a lead consultant at Information Security Architects.

We covered:

1) Regulatory compliance considerations in key African markets when onboarding customers digitally

2) Onboarding channel preferences for demographics

3) Demonstration of Appruve API for onboarding

4) Enabling business onboarding using Appruve API

5) Financial services’ website as a channel for onboarding, using Appruve API

6) How African Financial services, Telcos and Call centers can boost support and prevent fraud during COVID-19 Pandemic

3) In our third webinar, we discussed the finding from the research we conducted with LOOKA, on how users in Accra — Ghana and Nigeria experience onboarding via digital channels.

At the webinar, we offered recommendations to strike the balance between security and ease of use, as well as questions and trends that need to be considered to improve digital onboarding in Ghana and beyond.

month ago, we became the first sub- Saharan African member of the Financial Data Exchange (FDX).

This exciting opportunity to collaborate with leading financial institutions and fintech organizations around the world will accelerate our mission to help our clients and partners to easily onboard and verify identities and gain actionable insights.
