You have talked to us, thank you, we have listened and now we respond.

With Appzio we have been swimming against the current in terms of our business model. Where big part of the business software has moved to the cloud and is powered by SaaS services, mobile application development has still been very old fashioned.

Steps for traditional mobile development could be simplified like this:

1) You define your app idea
2) Concept & user experience creation either in-house or with an external help
3) Visual design
4) Technical planning
5) Programming for the backend
6) Programming for iOS
7) Programming for Android
8) Testing and QA
9) Release to AppStores
10) Maintenance and updates following these same steps
Traditionally as a result of this process, buying a mobile app means buying source code and whole lot of problems that come along with it. Unlike web, mobile app created five years ago would most likely not work anymore. Maybe it included some API’s that are now discontinued, or maybe Apple or Google changed something along the way and app would need an update.

As veterans of the mobile industry, we’ve thought for a long time that there needs to be a better way. That is why Appzio is and will continue to be first and foremost a SaaS service, which provides an accelerated path to AppStore and worry-free app ownership experience.

However, as we service also companies where the mobile app is at the core of their business, they sometimes feel uneasy about not having an access to the source code of the apps that power their businesses. That’s why today, we announce our Enterprise Licensing program, which makes it possible to get access to the whole underlying software infrastructure that powers Appzio! We are super excited about this development as we believe this will help us grow Appzio family bigger with more people who can also contribute in the future.
