2022 was a year of growth for Aputure. We have forged game-changing relationships with key industry partners, as well as providing our ecosystem of LED fixtures to the creative artists that hold the keys to next generation of filmmaking and content creation.

We strive to be a pivotal figure in the democratization of film technology, and each decision we make to improve our stance in the matter stems from that initial goal. Our team is elated by the various achievements that we’ve conquered along the way, and we’d like to accentuate one of them particularly: our partnership with Vū Studios.

Driving Innovation

Vū Studios, a thriving virtual production company originally based out of Tampa Bay, Florida has since grown their operations to the Entertainment Capital of the World in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a similar fashion, Vū Studios strives to introduce the benefits of LED technology into the workflow of contemporary film and content production.

To commence the partnership, Vū held a grand opening this fall, a ceremonial gathering and educational seminar that showcased the benefits and opportunities that LED lighting could bring to the world of filmmaking and content creation. They invited local commercial DPs from the Las Vegas community, industrial creators, content creators, and advertising execs to learn the differences of lighting in an LED volume. All with a positive spin to help decrease setup times, maximize the shooting day, and how Aputure lights are an ideal color fidelity with maximum output.

We’re thrilled to announce that since the studio’s inception, major Hollywood productions have already taken notice of the impressive workflow that LED technology has to offer. Notably, Vū played an essential role in the recent production of “Sympathy for the Devil,” starring Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman.

The upcoming psychological thriller opened with its world premiere at this year’s prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. A majority of the film was shot using the Vū Vegas 40,000 square-foot virtual production studio. The state-of-the-art location presented the production team with photo-realistic virtual environments that saved the project time and money, while Aputure lights were incorporated throughout the film to provide advanced special effects lighting on-location and in-studio.

“Typically a feature film shoots an average of three to five pages of script per day when filming on location, however when shooting in Virtual Production, we’ve seen several productions triple that output at Vū. This makes a huge difference for the production timeline and budget. We were thrilled to host such a talented cast and crew for what will be a very captivating and entertaining film!” — Tim Moore, CEO of Vū / Exec. Producer

What’s Next?

The sky’s the limit — 2022 was certainly a year of many victories for Aputure, and yet, there’s even more innovative solutions on the way. There are exciting announcements that will come in the new year, and it will showcase a trajectory of where we plan to go from this point forward.

Thank you so much for sticking with us, and we’ll see you in 2023.
