Aputure Co-Founder Ted Sim Enrolls at Harvard Business School

Boston Welcomes Film Technology

Ted Sim, Co-Founder and President of Aputure, recently announced that he will be accepting an invitation to join Harvard Business School’s venerable MBA program, where he will reside in Boston and study General Management. In his second year, Sim will transition to MIT to pursue studies in Advanced Manufacturing and Design.

As a business leader and spokesperson for Aputure, this decision from Sim represents a commitment to advancing the company through continuous improvement and innovation:

“The goal is simple. We want to take Aputure to the next level. We are and have been the fastest growing film technology company simply because we have the best users. That said, we also know it is sometimes painfully obvious how much better we could do as a community, and so about four years ago we started planning this next step. We delayed, waiting for the right time which has finally come now. In fact, it has already begun.”

Sim will remain engaged with Aputure and its community of creatives, but will step away from day-to-day operations for the short-term. In his absence, Robert Magness, former Vice President of Sales and Marketing will serve as Interim President, while Product Marketing Manager Brandon Le and Resident Aputure Pro Valentina Vee will continue to be the face of Aputure’s future product launches and keynote presentations. Since Sim’s departure, the Aputure team has only continued to grow with recently added key staff from DJI, Quasar Science and Zeiss. The Aputure product design team will also continue to innovate using Sim’s relocation as a springboard for innovating faster and tapping into the knowledge and expertise of Harvard and MIT as two of the world’s leading research centers.

In recent weeks, Aputure has disrupted the cinema industry with the arrival of powerful LED light fixtures catering to the high-end market, from their flagship Light Storm 1200d Pro to the groundbreaking Nova P600c. It’s an exciting time to be an Aputure user — there will be plenty more to look forward to as the company and its product portfolio continue to expand.
