Happiness rituals // The founder’s diary 🚀 Perfometry

Is there an effective way to stimulate happiness? This is the question I asked myself a couple of years ago when I needed to find a balance between a full-time job and two part-time Master’s degrees. With all the above happening in my life simultaneously, I had no holidays for two years. Additionally, I had to spend nights and weekends reading, writing essays and carrying out the research required for my dissertations. The obvious question that comes to mind is “what is happiness?”. I am not saying that I have a universal answer to that very philosophical question, but what I mean specifically in the context of this post — is whether there was a way to quickly and continuously recharge my energy levels whenever they reached the lower limit. I discovered a lot of different frameworks and techniques that work really well. But what I want to share in this post — is the power of ritual. And here is what I mean… There are certain small things that your body and brain associates with happiness. The small things you do when you are traveling on vacation or resting on the weekend. The small things that are not rushed. The small things you look forward to. These are things that you can imitate and, similar to the Pavlov’s dog, trick your body into that state of “happiness” that you would experience on the weekend or on vacation. To me, that small thing is having a coffee in a coffee shop. On the weekend, I love going to a coffee shop in order to think things through, plan my holidays, observe other people, read a book, write something. Today, when something feels off, I take 20 minutes, go to a coffee shop, completely turn my mind off and recharge my energy levels so that I can continue to persevere through whatever challenges remain on that day.
