As all of us know Artificial intelligence is one of the most crucial concepts in the 21st century. People use it in their computers, at work and even in their houses. So what is AI?

According to Wikipedia artificial intelligence is defined as “In computer science, artificial intelligence, sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals.” Which in practical uses help people to advance their already existing skill or make their skills more efficient. If we want to oversimplify Artificial intelligence is mainly used to customize your netflix account and intelligent assistants in today’s world.

However the area of utilization of Artificial intelligence is not limited with those fields. Astonishingly artificial intelligence has been used in robots for many years. The most common usage of AI in robotics is object recognition. Robots and other computer systems depend on artificial intelligence to interpret their surroundings and then to make some commands. One famous example of this is google self driving car. The AI system in it allows the car to recognize the traffic signs and lets the car move accordingly. Which is named as the self driving car.

In addition to the daily life usages, the AI systems now have spreaded to robotics competitions too. The aim of those programs are to give the high school or elementary school students some insight about artificial intelligence. VEX robotics is currently making an AI tournament which includes all the principles of object recognition and many more. We believe AI helps robots to steer themselves more accurately and gives them the quickness to do some vital movements. Thus the significance of AI shows itself in the tournament. The programmers who work with AI have some apparent skills compared to just writing code for the remote control.

Of Course AI has some not so admirable aspects too. We can clearly see that developing AI is itself a huge challenge. It requires miriad time and also needs a very long process to have the best outcome. When robots are included things get even messier. The AI program that is written will encounter some challenges while interpreting the real world. It will need a serious calibration and would never forgive a mistake in the programming.

When we consider the role of AI in our modern world we can definitely see impressive numbers of areas where AI is and will be used. Robotics is just one example amongst countless fields. AI offers professionalism in robotics and gives the students the opportunity to dive into coding even more. With that being said we should give more attention to AI in robotics and encourage new generations to learn it.
