Apple revealed their AR Kit platform to the world recently and already it’s causing a wave of excitement as a new mainstream platform for augmented reality application development. Using last year’s breakout hit Pokemon Go as demonstration, we can now enjoy tracking Pikachus in a smoother and more realistic manner than before.

Now with AR Kit available as beta, some developers have already dived in to play around. If you are enrolled in the Apple Developer program then download the latest copy of Xcode 9 beta and iOS 11 beta and code you own.

For some inspiration here’s a look at what others have tried, from dropping virtual space cats to airplanes and scary monsters. These demos gives us a peek at an exciting augmented reality future.
