Design for the entry to MEET at Chrystie, by Method Design

Method Design prides itself on working at the cutting edge of architecture, where their innovative use of products and materials distinguishes their projects. As their lean business grew, Method wanted a more efficient way to track all the products they researched and used on previous projects as well as a way to quickly save interesting products they came across every day in their digital and physical worlds.

Quite simply, Method knew its three ring binders and loosely organized file server weren’t going to cut it anymore. For one thing, nobody was even looking for products on the firm’s file server anymore; they were all searching online. When they found a great product online, they would bookmark it on their personal computer or save a PDF of it to the file server, where no one else knew it existed, let alone knew where to look for it again. Siloed product information stowed away like this meant Method was losing the opportunity to share it and build up the collective knowledge of the firm.

Method’s old process all but ensured that the tedious but necessary task of searching for, collecting, and organizing product information had to be restarted from scratch on each new project. Plus, any product’s usage history within the firm was “trapped” in large drawing files or locked in a PDF — both were incredibly time-consuming to track down. The most effective means to find it was to rely on the memories of already-too-busy team mates!

“We pride ourselves on being on the leading edge of what is next in design. That means, we have to know where we’ve been, what worked, what didn’t, and connect the dots. Arazoo now makes this possible in just a few clicks.”

— Reese Campbell, Co-founder of Method Design

When Method realized how much time (and cost) was being spent reinventing “product knowledge” on every project, their decision to adopt Arazoo was a no-brainer. Method flipped the switch and benefited immediately. By adding a few recent projects to Arazoo and having the entire firm regularly add new products to its firm library, the increase of product knowledge within individuals, the firm as a whole, as well as their outside consultants is up to date and more complete than ever.

Arazoo made managing product information easy for Method Design and enabled them to spend more time doing what defines their practice — original product research and design innovation.
