ONWARD TO 2023

A hearty hello to all of those in the Galaxy - the team is back to report on more of the progress that has been made since our live alpha!

We want to thank everyone in the community that has taken the time to check out the early build of Arcade Galaxy, including the online races, custom maps, and our initial slate of customization options for Cub avatars. We know that many in this space have encountered unprecedented challenges, and we want to reassure everyone our commitment to quality. The team has a strong vision for a fun universe that connects players from across the globe.

Our developers have also received valuable feedback from many of you, and we want to take the time to let you know that you are all appreciated. If you want to take a peek at this preview version at the link above, feel free to login with the passcode ‘alpha.’ The live build could still be online by the time this update is posted, and we always welcome your input.

So… what’s next?

THE STATE OF THE GAME

The team is pleased that we’ve had the opportunity to hear feedback from our alpha testers, also getting to see others experience the game for the first time. What is most exciting about this is that we are seeing a variety of creative map designs that the team has never imagined before. We are thrilled to see community creations like this so early, and it strengthens our belief in the potential of our Creator’s Tool; offering players a way to unleash entirely new experiences.

On the other hand, due to its complexity, we did hold off on releasing the Logic Editor with this version of the Creator’s Tool. We hope to show it off more in the future as we continue integrating its functionality within our creative modes. In the meantime, we are all wondering what kinds of fantastic ideas our players could create with a feature as complex as this one. As we have stated in earlier dev logs, this Logic Editor is a visual scripting suite that allows you to modify, create, and attach custom behaviors to game objects. We feel that this tool will expand the range of possible gameplay types, styles, and functions in Arcade Galaxy exponentially.

Logic Editor Development Capture

Right now, the team is hard at work on implementing all of the basic features we have planned for the Logic Editor in a future BETA VERSION.

You might be wondering, when is this BETA coming? Well, we’re happy to announce that we are on track for that upcoming milestone in Q1 2023.

We are currently prioritizing a more robust feature set for the beta release, a fun foundation must be core to the experience — whether you are a player or creator. In the not-so-distant future, we would like to expand on the Logic Editor with new skills, items, quests, etc. We want the content of Arcade Galaxy to be as rich as possible, and we’re eager to explore even more as things come together.

ADDRESSING FEEDBACK & IMPROVEMENTS

The team continues to make headway in addressing key issues as the game becomes more complete. In terms of network stability and responsiveness, we are now moving our server to AWS. We have experienced technical challenges with regards to flashbacks and latency, but our team has been working with this new infrastructure to resolve these problems.

Other improvements include Cubs and LOD; we have continued to iterate on detail and optimization in our art pipeline. There are plans for including more Cubs animations, props, thematic effects, and more. We have conducted internal reviews on our UX — including the level editor. All in all, the team is working hard to make the game better every day.

DEVELOPMENTS MOST EXCITING

Before we get to our first community questions, the team would like to share what they are most excited about as we move towards beta.

Members on the development team are incredibly proud of how the Logic Editor is shaping up. This feature began as an internal tool for our interactive item creation process, but now we are working on a more user-friendly UI to expose that functionality to users. We want players to be able to design their own interactions, set new parameters on items, edit conditions, and game mode rules. We believe that the Creator’s Tool and Logic Editor combined can give our community a chance to make their arcade gaming dreams come true.

COMMUNITY QUESTIONS

How is the team approaching the tokenomics / play-and-earn aspect of the service right now?

Unfortunately, we have seen in recent months that the crypto market has ventured into bear market territory. With our project emphasizing quality, accessibility, and a community-first service, we’re taking a different approach from the traditional play-to-earn/GameFi model. Our beliefs in the power of ownership, rewards, and democratization remain the same. We want to reward those helping us make the game more open and fun. During this period, our first priority is going to have to be developing the game itself — to find that fun factor and make sure that we’re providing a healthy base to build those incentives for those that can participate.

When the time is right, once the game reaches our standards of quality, we will be implementing an array of mechanisms for hardcore players.

Some of these planned mechanisms include:

  1. Monetizing Creations
  2. Tournament Prize Pools & Promotions

With our app, we intend to bridge the gap for those that are gamers first-and-foremost and those enthusiasts which bring that much more value to the experience. As for the tokenomics, even though many in-game transactions would have to be processed through in-app purchases with Apple or Google, $RCADE still serves as the main token for the game. $RCADE holders should still be able to use the token to enjoy different perks and airdrops in the game.

Any plans for new gameplay footage coming soon?

Oh, yes… Here’s another sneak preview of what’s coming in 2023!
