Arcana Network– Community Update — Q1 &Q2, 2022

We at Arcana have had a great start to the year 2022 as we wrapped our Testnet launch towards the end of 2021. This year is equally big for us, especially since we’re gearing up for our mainnet launch and the token generation event (TGE) to kickstart our token sale. But right off the bat, let’s get to the biggest news we have to share: The launch of Arcana’s beta testnet– Quantum Ascent. More on our beta launch under the “Project Updates’’ section below.

Read on as we share what all we’ve been up to in the first and second quarters of 2022– starting from the several events we’ve hosted and been a part of to the new joinees that have come on board to make the privacy big bang happen, there’s a lot of ground to cover.

Growth Numbers

Our community has been growing strong with a sharp rise in followers both across our Twitter and Telegram channels. Here’s a quick overview of the numbers:

  • More than 18k followers on Arcana Network’s Telegram community.
  • 38k + followers on Twitter.
  • 28K members on Discord.
  • 500+ app smart contracts have been deployed on our chain.
  • We now have close to 50 SDK integrations, with a 50% increase when compared to the previous months.

Project Updates (Concise Version)

We’re thrilled to announce that after months of building and learning from the insights we’ve gathered from our alpha testnet release last year, our beta testnet Quantum Ascent is finally here. Made live in the first half of July, 2022, our beta testnet brings us closer to the goal of making privacy a first class citizen on apps. Here’s a quick roundup of the highlights and main features we’re shipping with the beta testnet release:

  • Private NFT: Creators now have an even better means of selling their art with added security and privacy. Unlike traditional NFTs, our private NFTs allow you to encrypt the file attached to the NFT and make it private.
  • Region-Specific Storage: We now have 18 storage nodes in total, distributed in three clusters comprising six nodes each. Pre-beta, we’ve had a single cluster consisting of six nodes in one region. Devs can now choose a specific region from our options to store their dApp data.
  • Passwordless Login: Upping the ante in terms of authentication, we now support passwordless login alongside social auth. Devs now have several, easy onboarding options at their disposal with Arcana.
  • Web Wallet: Users are no longer required to have a wallet to use your dApp. Setting up wallets, storing keys and phrases safely is all a thing of the past. Our web wallet supports both social auth and passwordless login, providing users a frictionless onboarding and user experience.

We hosted the first community call of 2022 back in February where our founding members, new joinees, and community members came together to discuss all things Arcana. We shared our project updates, what’s new with our platform, engineering updates, and partnership updates. Our chief design officer (CDO) Sharan Grandigae spoke about how he’s spearheading design at Arcana, the new developments, and what’s coming ahead. Mayur concluded the session by discussing the roadmap for 2022 and opened up for Q&A.

Stay tuned to our socials for updates on our community calls and town hall events.

We’ve airdropped NFT-wrapped $XAR tokens to our early supporters and community members as a token of our appreciation. And shortly after our initial NFT airdrop, we opened up the opportunity to get NFT-wrapped $XAR tokens airdropped to just about anybody in our community. What followed was a simple airdrop contest where our community members and participants had to complete a bunch of tasks and share their wallet addresses. The chosen ones would be getting NFT-wrapped $XAR tokens of various denominations in their wallets. Currently in phase 1, our next phase of airdrop will soon commence.

Platform Updates (Concise Version)

Since we’ve got our beta testnet, mainnet, and token sale launch planned for the year, the first quarter of 2022 has been quite eventful and productive. Broadly speaking, here are some of the things we’ve implemented and changed on our platform (An exhaustive Platform Update will soon be published that focuses on the product-centric updates related to the beta testnet release):

  • Website changes: new career section has been added and team images have been updated.
  • Demo app under some minor changes, including 100 MB download restrictions that would be implemented.
  • Incorporating beacon contracts to our set of smart contracts — Currently whenever there is an upgrade in logic, each proxy/app has to update its logic contract. With the help of a beacon contract, all the apps/proxies will be pointed to a beacon contract and upgrading the beacon contract will update the logic of all the contracts.
  • Increased test coverage for our SDKs and smart contracts.
  • Completed backend work on the web wallet, passwordless auth, and have begun working on front-end components.
  • Added redirect mode for login SDK
  • Begun working on logging repository for internal use.
  • Documentation is undergoing a major overhaul, and as of now, NPM package blurbs have been updated.
  • Improving DKG schemes and working with cryptographers for key share repair.
  • Explorer is work in progress; here is what we’ve done so far:
  • Getting the list of transactions being validated in each block.
  • Getting cursory statistics about the Arcana chain (block time, total blocks, total transactions).
  • Working on bridging solutions — in the future, we will need the ability to pass messages between the Arcana chain and other chains for various use cases. For example, transferring an NFT on one chain should alter the ownership of the underlying asset on the Arcana chain.
