Arcana Network Now has 18 Storage Nodes Deployed Across North America, Europe & Asia

Arcana Network now has 18 storage nodes deployed across three geographic regions, allowing developers to choose a region that best fits their needs and requirements. Prior to the Arcana beta testnet, we had a single cluster of nodes that comprised six nodes in one region. During that stage, devs that deployed their dApps with Arcana had no say in which region the data could reside. But it’s all a thing of the past now. Read on as we delve deeper into the updates around storage nodes with our latest beta release, and what they mean for dApp devs going forward.

What are Storage Nodes?

In the most simplest of terms, one can call storage nodes a “physical server” with SSDs or HDDs attached to them. These storage nodes are often grouped together in clusters for easy management. A bunch of such storage nodes (clusters) are generally speaking, managed as a single pool of storage.

Arcana Network Pre-Beta Testnet: 6 Storage Nodes

Back in 2021 when we launched the Arcana Quantum Descent alpha testnet, our storage and privacy stack only had a single cluster with six nodes, deployed in a single geographic region. Back in the day, devs could not choose a specific region to store their user data. But over time, we added more storage nodes, expanded them to various geographic locations, and now support several regions across the globe.

Arcana Network Now: 18 Storage Nodes

Post the beta testnet launch, Quantum Ascent, we now have three clusters of nodes, sprawled across Asia, Europe and North America. This development is quite instrumental for our storage stack as we can now support devs from various geographical locations. By offering options in terms of storage locations, both web2 and web3 devs can choose a region which best complies with various data regulations, among other aspects. On top of it, the reduced latency is also another benefit that dApp users can enjoy, as their data can be stored in a region that’s closest to them.

Going ahead, we plan on expanding our storage nodes to more regions in order to better accommodate the needs of web2 and web3 devs alike. On top of that, we are also going to onboard other trusted providers to run nodes alongside us. This would make sure that we aren’t the only ones to run nodes, making our storage stack more decentralized.

In the long run, we aim to make running storage nodes for our storage network truly permissionless. Just about anyone that meets a certain set of criteria can spin up a node and become a storage node provider with us.

About Arcana Network

Built for Ethereum and EVM-based chains, Arcana is the web3 infrastructure to easily onboard dApp users and enable user data privacy and ownership. Web3 developers use Arcana’s SDKs for a seamless, familiar user onboarding experience via social authentication and passwordless login. All user data is encrypted, secured with data access fully controlled by the users, and powered by blockchain.

Arcana has raised 2.7Mn USD from some of the leading investors and founders in the ecosystem such as Balaji Srinivasan, Founders of Polygon, Woodstock, Republic Crypto, and Digital Currency Group.

Watch out for Arcana’s upcoming Testnet and Mainnet in 2022.
