The entrance is on the ground floor at an angle to the street corner. It enters into a space where the public can drop off samples of DNA and medical and scientific specialists can continue to the second floor conference space. A service area is also on the ground floor with access to the “lobby” area. The staff enter from a large void space on the Christie St. side. On the back corner there is the closed stairs for emergency and staff use. The main circulation is towards the front of the building and connects all of the floors. On the second floor there is an auditorium that can also be used for conferences. It is on the second floor to allow for easy access and to create little disturbance to the study area. On the third floor is one of the DNA storage areas as well as a service space to allow staff members to control the conditions for the DNA. The fourth floor is only DNA storage space. On the fifth floor there is another, larger auditorium to be used for seminars and large talks. There is also a covered outdoor space for people to congregate and talk after the talks. The sixth floor is the study area and is on the top floor so there is no distracting traffic through it. There are two outdoor areas that are not covered. One outdoor space has a direct view of the park across the street while the other one is more private and in the back. The two right walls of the study space are glass to allow for a view of the park as well as to allow indirect South light in.
