Hello everyone, it’s me, Orlando. I’m an Apple fanboy and software engineer at arconsis. Every week I publish an article from the series “Orlando thinks” in which I highlight a specific topic that I see as important or exciting. Sometimes it might be just certain aspects of everyday life, but sometimes it might be tips, hints, thoughts, or appeals — but non-sense is not excluded either.

Please get vaccinated like him. ❤

I know. You think: “Why should I read yet another article about our current situation, including a shoutout to get vaccinated? Last time you wrote about a more technical topic again — couldn’t you just continue that?”

Yeah. Well, I guess most of you already got your doses and won’t need that call-for-vaccination. So for all the others — please read. And for those who don’t have time…

…tl;dr

Get vaxxed. Yes, it is safe. No, you don’t get a microchip implanted. Get an appointment and do everything possible to end the pandemic. We are all tired. We want it to be over. Thank you!

Some thoughts

I have been mainly working from home for nearly two years now. Don’t get me wrong: Remote work is great on so many levels. I really like how I can focus better on parts of my work and how it gives me more flexibility. But — and that is an important but — I would definitely enjoy going into the office again without having the “big C” in my mind all the time. Unfortunately, the current situation makes this simply not possible.

Because not enough people are vaccinated.

My grandmother is over 90 years old and living in a nursing home. We can still visit her, but the visiting times have been massively restricted since the incidences in all of Germany are very high again.

This happened because many people were not vaccinated.

Someone from my family actually needs surgery. Unfortunately, it is being postponed because the intensive care unit is completely full.

Full with mostly unvaccinated people.

Currently, an airplane crashes in Germany every day — about 400 people die each day due to COVID-19. That is 15 to 20 times the number of people working at arconsis.

Most of them are not vaccinated.

We join the campaign

At arconsis, we think that we all have to stand up to the virus. We must understand that this pandemic will only end when enough people get their doses.

The people who suffer most in these challenging times need our support: People who lost their loved ones because of the virus. People who live in countries where there is not enough vaccine and who do not have the chance to get the shot. Nurses and doctors all around the world that risk their lives to save others. Parents that are worried about their kids. The kids themselves. People who cannot receive the vaccination for health reasons and — of course — the ones that are already fighting for their lives. There are so many more I didn’t even begin.

We have to stop the spread. And the only way for this now is the vaccination.

This is why we joined #zusammengegencorona, a campaign initiated by 150 companies to raise awareness about vaccination and its importance. They changed their slogans, logos, and even their websites for this and so we did.

Yes, we are not as big or well-known as the other participants and our impact may be little — but it is our duty to follow that path and set a sign. If we can convince just one person …

For this reason, our claim has changed tom “technological excellence and passion” to “technological excellence and Impfen”. Not very creative, I know.

But I guess — you get the point, right? It is not the time to discuss the wording.

It is time to act. It is time for people to get vaxxed.

Please. Thank you.

Stay healthy and get the shot!

Cheers 🍻💉
