Her mother would either eat too much, or too little. She took pills, but not the ones she was supposed to take…and the ones she did take, she took too many of.

So first, first she had to save her mother. Cook her food, and call the water and electric company, and put on her best grown-up voice and pay the bills. When she was super super young, they still used checks. She waxed nostalgic about it.
