My Liquid Nightmare

A short story about self-defense.

Photo by wu yi on Unsplash

I was in the closet with a knife.

He was outside. He was angry because I wasn’t home. I was home, but I was hoping he wouldn’t figure that out.

I could wait until he either left or went to sleep. Then I would say I had stepped out to get him a present. Then, he wouldn’t be mad.
