So…Why Do Trolls On Threads Write So Much?

I was first introduced to trolls on Xanga. Some guy I didn’t know accused me of being a slut, of course, based on a poem I wrote. I was a virgin at the time.

I’ve also worked moderation for two different social sites. Let me tell you something about trolls—They don’t usually say a lot. They didn’t used to, anyway.

I’ve been using Threads for a while and there’s something unique about the trolls over there—They write a LOT. Perhaps with the rise of AI bots comes the rise of lengthy troll soliloquies. But it’s unique to that platform. Trolls on other platforms give simple, even one-word comments. Slut. Fat. Dumb. Yap. Man. Gay. Etc.

Whatever it is, it’s usually pretty concise. They’re looking to get a rise out of people.

On Threads, it seems like they’re already upset. They’ve left comments two, three, four times longer than some of my posts. They rant to themselves. They usually don’t have any followers, so they’re probably trying to use my platform to get their words to literally anyone.

What does this mean? Well, it actually makes me feel like they’re failing.

They’re failing on that particular platform. They’re not getting the attention they want, maybe.
