Tech Free Fall.
We’re all applying for the same jobs; little circles over profiles.
But we make more money creating content about applying for jobs. Hundreds of applications and we’re told to use AI, and they evaluate us using AI, and try to replace us with AI.
They can’t yet, not entirely, and it makes them so mad. But at least the big tech bros have dropped the facade — Most of them were never liberal disrupters; they bleed their “contractors” dry; they just wanted more women of color learning to code so they could pay us less.
They confused being young with being liberal, and now that they’re getting older, the lizard eyes are blinking underneath Ozempic skin. They microdose and return to earth with renewed self-assurance: They are the good guys.
Maybe it’s hard — you’ve already got years of experience. You’re not entry-level. You want a comfy mid-level job. But the whole reason they wanted so many applicants was so they could give you shit.
I think the white dudes who invented these jobs already got all that cheese.
But you now what — I am, really, glad they’re showing their true colors. They were never going to save the world — They were always egomaniacs. They’d rather leave us on a dying planet, and if we saved it during their absence, they’d come right back and do it again.
I would feel bad for AI investors except they’re far richer than I will ever be. But I’m a little concerned for their intelligence — How are they so unable to recognize a parrot when they see one?
The dark fantasy AI edits are a little creepy and funny, but how is that making them money? What about all the energy it takes to generate that art? The world is already growing hotter, and somehow it’s better to heat the earth up even more instead of finding an artist on Fiverr to create your logo?
I guess a lot of people made a lot of money. I guess that was why they made all that hype to begin with, to separate investors from money.
Now I’m just a bit gloomy, watching everyone fight over a first-class ticket on a sinking ship.
