Left to wonder why

She argues with the wind on departure,
Watching as it scurries through the leaves of the trees,
Tomorrow is set to dawn in a whisper of colour,
Fused with the scent of yesterday’s breeze.

Her stomach twists at the notion of life’s hiccups,
Swishing and buckling in upheaval and stress,
Until her mind overrides the torrent of shivers
Rippling along her spine in sheer duress.

Shadows flounder in her heavy footsteps,
The miles stretching from the memory of her past,
Her fractures, her failures, her lessons upended,
Future marathons to be run just as fast.

The prickling of the icy humidity upon her fair skin,
Burns in contrast to the lightening of a new day,
Seldom worshipping her beauty and rareness,
Cuddled in the arms of the sun’s burning ray.

Tears fall in a waterfall of unending grief,
Held back for far too long,
The release charismatically freeing,
Reminding her of where it is that she really belong.
