Morro Bay, California is a seaside town, known for its iconic ‘Rock’ — Morro Rock — out in the bay. It is a very popular weekend getaway for residents of Los Angeles and for those traveling north to San Simeon and Hearst Castle.

Morro Bay is also famous for the thriving community of California sea otters common to the bay (see below).

The community of Morro Bay was built on the commercial fishing industry. Today’s commercial fishing fleet supplies the many and varied local sea food restaurants with the catch of the day: rock-fish, ling-cod, halibut, tuna or salmon —all sustainably caught.

Morro Bay also has several charter boat companies available or you can rent a dinghy, kayak or a surfboard for the day or a few hours.

I was born in Los Angeles where I lived most of my life until I left in 2015 on my nomadic adventure (myairspace.com) up the Pacific Coast of the United States.

While living in the L.A. area I took many weekend trips to Morro Bay and loved to sit for hours watching…
