At the heart of a controversial story in Canada’s liquified natural gas (LNG) push is Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C). At Kitimat is where an old story about the oil and gas pipeline — called Coastal GasLink — connecting the Rocky Mountains to ports in Canada’s B.C. areas is now being carried out to construct Canada’s first LNG plant. The Coastal GasLink pipeline is operated by TC Energy and has brought out environmentalists across the globe opposed to its operation and construction.

The construction project will become Canada’s first LNG export facility when completed; it is a joint-venture project including Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation. Offshore Energy

Moreover, this LNG plant has also rocked the nerves of a First Nations tribe located in Kitamaat Village who fiercly oppose the pipeline going through its native land.
