Business News — Walmart Gives Store Employees A Break For Thanksgiving Holiday In USA
Walmart has been giving its store employees more time off since the global covid-19 pandemic in 2020. One of the decisions was to close stores during the Thanksgiving holidays. It was reported by The Street that Walmart intends to keep this trend going in the foreseeable future.
Walmart US CEO Jon Furner announced via the company’s Twitter account that store employees should continue to have Thanksgiving holiday as a time for spending with family and friend. Here’s what he said:
“I am delighted to share that once again, we’ll be closing our doors for Thanksgiving this year. Thanksgiving is such a special day during a very busy season. We want you to spend that day at home with family and loved ones.”
It appears that Walmart’s decision to close stores during Thanksgiving is in direct response to some of the latest data about the retail industry in the USA. For instance, 60% of retail workers have already reported that they were involved in violent store incidents in 2023.
