US and Western fears of China’s and Russia’s advancement progress
As the globe continues to change and the balance of power shifts, the United States and its Western allies have expressed greater alarm about China’s and Russia’s advancement. As an international observer, it is evident that these concerns are not unwarranted and should be taken seriously.
The accession of Finland to NATO in early April 2023 appears to be insignificant in terms of global geopolitical change. Russia is more interested in collaborating with China to expand its BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization. They genuinely want to establish a new world order that obviously opposes the West. According to calculations, the BRICS countries, which also include China, Russia, and India, have significant nuclear weapons power. Their economic power is extensive.
China has emerged as a key participant on the world scene, thanks to its large population, quickly developing economy, and massive military investment. The Chinese government has stated its desire to become a dominant force in international affairs, challenging the United States as the world’s foremost superpower. China has been aggressively spending in its military, producing new weaponry and boosting its naval capabilities to that goal. This has heightened Western anxiety about China’s objectives and potential dangers to regional stability.
China’s economic growth has been aided in part by the country’s enormous trade surplus with the United States and other Western countries. As a result, China and the West have developed a complicated interdependence, with China becoming increasingly interwoven with the global economy. This reliance, however, has generated concerns about China’s ability to utilize economic pressure to achieve political aims, as well as the risk of economic coercion.
Russia, on the other hand, has been aggressively strengthening its influence. Russia has been showing its military strength under President Vladimir Putin, participating in military adventures in Syria and Ukraine, and spending massively in its nuclear weapons. Russia has also been accused of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, including the 2016 presidential election in the United States. These measures have aroused concerns about Russia’s objectives and the possibility of confrontation in areas where Russian and Western interests collide.
Russia openly threatens to use Ukraine as a scapegoat if the Western alliance fails to behave. Russia is even prepared to use nuclear weapons to destroy it. What happened in Ukraine, aided by Western armaments and sanctions against Russia, had no effect on Russia’s power. Instead, Ukraine is in disarray. People in Germany, France, and even the United States are questioning why their governments are still defending Ukraine. Despite the fact that internal situations in Europe and the United States are volatile.
In reaction to these developments, the United States and its Western allies have taken moves to challenge the influence of China and Russia. To retain its military superiority, the United States has increased its military presence in the Indo-Pacific area, establishing alliances with countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Australia, and investing in new military technologies.
The West has also been working to minimize its reliance on Chinese commerce by diversifying supply chains and investing in domestic manufacturing.
On the one hand, Russia and China are preparing to introduce a new BRICS currency in order to begin an attack on the West. China is even wooing Iran and Saudi Arabia, which were previously opposed to joining the Shanghai alliance.
Finally, Malaysia is attempting to approach China as a representative of Southeast Asia. Indonesia enjoys excellent relations with both Russia and China. The United States and its alliance are being pushed out of Asia Pacific. The US is merely bluffing by wanting to add bases in the Philippines, but it’s all in good fun because they don’t provide economic benefits like China.
Once again, the West-US alliance is not as strong as it was during the great wars. They can only fight proxy wars because they are afraid to engage openly with China and Russia. China employs a trade war strategy and semiconductor technology that makes the United States look even more pitiful. Europe is concerned about the expansion of Chinese influence in Europe and around the world from a geopolitical standpoint.
China has strengthened links with European countries through economic investment and diplomacy, as well as the Belt and Road Initiative initiative, which aims to increase infrastructure connections and global trade with countries worldwide. Europe is concerned that China would use aggressive diplomatic measures to remove Europe’s position on the world arena and grow its influence.
