Who is JD Vance? If they win in November, he will be a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States

On Monday, the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, WI, former President Trump announced James David (JD) Vance as his running mate for the 2024 Presidential election. JD Vance is the junior United States senator from Ohio and the fist millennial vice-president candidate at the age of thirty-nine years of age. Vance served in the United States Marine Corps from 2003–2007 as the rank of Corporal in the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Unit and served in the Iraq War. He later graduated from Ohio State University and Yale Law School in 2013 and wrote his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy. The book was a New York Times Best Seller and later adapted in a movie and directed by Ron Howard starring Glen Glose and Amy Adams. Vance writes about growing up poor and in dysfunctional family with alcoholic grandparents and his mother’s drug addiction. He talks about their Appalachian values and love of country despite their low social economic status.

Vance is a strong social conservative who is pro-life, opposes same-sex marriage, banning of pornography, federal criminalization of transgender healthcare and surgery on minors. He also opposes American military aid to Ukraine in their war against Putin and his invasion of their sovereign nation.
