Daniel Cormier to USADA: “You guys are ridiculous”
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier are rivals on the level of Professor Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes or Batman and The Joker. Every time one is in the news, the other name gets attached and with the news of Jones receiving a 15-month sanction, UFC Tonight gave Cormier the floor to give his reaction.
While Cormier has said time and time again he has moved past Jones, knowing he is an option again as a future opponent certainly interests him. The match between him and Brock Lesnar is his only focus for the immediate future and with hinting at retiring in March, Jones back in the mix certainly makes for interesting matchups as long as his opponents are clean.
Even with the history Jones has, for USADA to issue the sanction has many fans wondering about the credibility of the organization and Cormier let his opinion of them be known.
“70 times since I started wrestling internationally and I’ve never made a mistake. It’s not that hard. So even to be sitting here and doing this again shows, you guys are ridiculous.” — Daniel Cormier
Cormier told fellow analyst and former fighter Kenny Florian that USADA cannot come to his house anymore and added, “What’s the point?” Cormier said, “They’ve been to my house 15 times. USADA, don’t come to my house anymore. You don’t need too. You don’t need to come. I’m not going to fail a test, I’m not going to make any mistakes, I’m not going to have to sit up there and go, ‘I’m serious this time, guys. I promise I wasn’t really trying to cheat.’ It’s never going to happen with me.”
While Dana White has denied that the plan is to have Jones face someone at UFC 230, history has shown that usually when White says something is not going to happen, the opposite usually does occur. Either way, as long as Jones is an active fighter on the UFC roster and Cormier is holding a title, the story of Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier could have one more fight to close it out.
