Khabib Nurmagomedov Not Thinking About Conor McGregor
Khabib Nurmagomedov will be facing Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 this weekend but in his most recent interview, he addressed the possibility of a rematch with Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov does not feel McGregor deserves a rematch, but outside the cage, he says a fight will happen should they cross paths. In fact, Nurmagomedov says that is the only way he and McGregor will meet again at a competitive level inside the cage.
In an interview with ESPN, Nurmagomedov had his own time to talk about what he has been up to and upcoming match with Poirier and even included who else deserves the shot after him. Tony Ferguson was one name, the other was Georges St-Pierre if St-Pierre felt like coming back again the way he did against Michael Bisping in 2017. As far as McGregor is concerned, the only way they meet again is if he comes back and wins a few fights.
“This guy have to come back and make nine- or 10-fight win streak,” Nurmagomedov said about a rematch with McGregor. However, outside of the business of fighting, Nurmagomedov said the loss McGregor suffered at UFC 229 did not settle the feud that was built between them. Nurmagomedov said should they happen to run into one another somewhere, “we’re going to fight, 100 percent.” He knows after being suspended for what happened after UFC 229, he could face jail for fighting outside of the cage and said, “It doesn’t matter if someone go to jail or something like this. I’m not scared about this. They go to hospital and we go to police.”

Considering when McGregor had his interview on ESPN, he said he wanted to see how UFC 242 played out, it looks like he should remove that option if Nurmagomedov wins.
