Game Dev Ideation Challenge With DevCon-IV Ticket Prize

If you’ve ever dreamed about a game where you teared down the wall between users and developers now is your chance! Developers of any size now have the chance to design & implement a game and integrate Blockchain technology in new fascinating ways. The winner of Phase 1 will get two tickets for the devcon4 (30th October to 2nd November 2018, Prague).

Phase 1 (Deadline October 17!): Design your game (rules, assets, interaction, etc.) based on a Blockchain technology of your choice. No development work is mandatory yet but will be a bonus in our scoring! Just share your creative vision in a Concept document (max 15 pages) and pitch it in a recorded video (max 2 min) to the audience — our meetup audience will score the 4 finalists and the winner will announced on the meetup.

Phase 1 of the Ares contest is simple: share your vision for how you use blockchain in your game, by submitting a concept document and a pitch video.

Your Phase 1 submission will require you to create one (1) Concept document as a pdf format (max 15 pages), which will be send to us in your submission. The Concept document must include the basic elements of gameplay design, narrative, and technical goals.

As part of your submission, you will also need to submit one (1) Pitch video, introducing your team, your experience, and your vision. We want you to be able to share your knowledge and background with the Ares community, along with the narrative of your game that you’re trying to tell.

Judging Criteria

Submissions will be judged based on creative use of the blockchain technology, gameplay narrative & design, team capability to deliver a finished game. Ares is looking for the right game and the right team to bring Blockchain into real games! The final scores for the selected 4 finalist will be assigned by our open audience at the Ares Tech meetup at October 18th (team members are excluded from scoring).

Phase 1 Winners Announcements

All finalists will be announced on our website on October 17, 2018.

Phase 2 Announcements

Finalist are open to enter Phase 2 where the winner will develop the game in cooperation with us. More details at the meetup.

Teams

Start the challenge solo or feel free to work with other team members on the project. All team members must be added as contributors on the project and should be properly attributed in your submission as contributors. One submission per team.

Final Submission — Submitting Project

• Use challenge@arestech.io and write an email containing link to video and Concept document till October 17th 6PM CEST.
• Embed a video link of your pitch at the email
• Attach a pdf of your concept document with the submission email
• Feel free to add work-in-progress images, GIFs, video or prototype to your submission
• Add any contributors who helped you along the way

What is an Submission?

A Phase 1 submission includes three elements:

1. a completed submission email till October 17th 6PM CEST

And the following to be attached to your email:

2) a Concept document that does not exceed 15 pages in length, submitted as a .pdf. The Concept document must contain:

• integration of blockchain technology;
• basic elements of gameplay design, narrative and technical goals; and
• showing the intended to development the game with Blockchain technology.

3) a Pitch video posted to a publicly-available platform (e,g. YouTube, DropBox, GoogleDrive, etc,). A private link of the Pitch video must attached to your submission email. The video cannot be more than 2 minutes in length and must include the following:

• introduction of yourself (or your team), your experience and your game vision;
• explain the creative ways you will leverage
• depicts your game’s functionality and gameplay

If you are determined to be a Phase 1 finalist, you are open to enter Phase 2 where the winner gets the chance to develop the game with us.

Am I eligible to participate in the Universal GameDev Challenge?

Yes, as long as:

• you are a legal resident in your place of residence and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry
