Liwen Yang, Associate Director of HR at ARISE Impact

I had known about ARISE Impact since 2011, and I had the opportunity to see its speedy and healthy growth in many areas such as community outreach, leadership team development, enlarging impact, and the way this organization values their people. I decided to join ARISE Impact in September 2016, because I almost felt like I was missing out on the movement of empowering differently-abled people to learn on their own, if I only watched but not participated myself.

Through working at ARISE Impact, I have deeply integrated myself in to its inclusive mission and value of equality, which has been a life-changing experience. It shifted my focus from self-achieving to the bigger picture, and that challenged every one of my life perceptions, especially on how I should measure the value of my work and what else can be done to make the world a better place for EVERYONE.

With ARISE Impact, I have a team to run towards at any time for help, support, brutally honest feedback, or an open platform to do things creatively. I get to learn how an organization implements the mission, norms and culture in day-to-day operation; and I am able to get hands-on with process design practice, which is an efficient way to make sense of all the theories that we learned through books at school.

I am truly grateful for the team, culture and every opportunity I get while working at ARISE Impact. It’s a great reason to wake up in the morning and do something good every day!
