As a fully open source project, ARK will live and die by it’s community contributions. We truly believe that the future of the ARK Ecosystem depends on a strong collaborative effort between the ARK Crew and our open source developers and designers. As such, we want to promote and encourage community contributions to all aspects of the project. We introduced the first phase of our open source incentive system with our Developer Bounty Program, but we aren’t done yet.

Introducing 10 for 10,000 program

10 for 10,000 is our second major incentive program and is designed to help promote our open source community and spur development on some of the secondary systems that will help to build out the full-fledged ecosystem we envisioned when creating ARK. Our goal is to empower the amazing talent that has already joined the ARK movement to help shape the future for the entire ARK Ecosystem in a meaningful way, while being rewarded for their hard work and dedication.

How Does it Work?

As many of you know, our Slack channel is one of the most active in crypto. Fortunately, that activity hasn’t been wasted. Our community has come up with some really great ideas and when coupled with our own internal to do list, I think we have come up with some really strong initial community projects to take on.

The ARK Crew is putting 100,000 ARK on the table to be awarded to 10 individuals or teams, at 10,000 ARK each (worth around 2+ BTC at the time of writing), who can make any of the following ideas a reality. The only requirements are that what you make remains fully open-source under the ARK MIT license and can be put on the Ark Ecosystem GitHub (with full credit to the author intact). This will allow further development by the community and allow all of our projects to continue to grow and expand. We take our responsibility to the open source community seriously and we want all components of the ARK ecosystem to be available to everyone, at all times.

The Projects

ENDED: If you want to get funding for ARK related projects, get in contact with ARK team or ACF with proposal and how much funding is needed (depending on the scope of work).

While we don’t want to hinder your imagination, we have picked 6 concepts or ideas that we felt would be a great start for building out the ARK Ecosystem. If you feel like you have an idea that we missed but would be a great benefit to our community, feel free to reach out to us on Slack with your idea. We will take it under consideration and give you a GO or NO GO on inclusion in the incentive program. Without further ado, here are the initial project ideas we would like to see.

  1. Languages. We are looking for additional API/library/node implementations for additional languages like C#, GO, or Rust. If you are fluent in another language, help us out! The more languages we can make ARK available in, the larger our developer community can become!
  2. Games. Everyone loves games, right? We are looking for games where you can spend ARK, win ARK for competing on leaderboards, or just some kind of fun implementation of ARK in a gaming environment. Many of our team members have always been interested in an Agar clone for ARK. It can be web, desktop, or mobile — your call, use your imagination!
  3. Payments. We would love to see ARK payment plugins for some of the major commerce systems such as a Wordpress/WooCommerce integration, Shopify, Magento or any others you know of. A simple plugin that would allow stores to accept ARK for goods would be awesome!
  4. IoT. ARK for Arduino or Raspberry Pi — IoT applications. Secure an electric door lock, grant access to other ARK accounts via the vendorfield and ARK blockchain, control and authorize other devices.
  5. Manufacturing. Supply chain management, counterfeit detection — track items from manufacturers to end users (who has what and when).

As previously mentioned, these are just a few ideas that we thought would help get the ball rolling. If you have your own idea, submit a proposal for approval to the ARK Crew and we will read it over.

I Want to Build XYZ, Now What?

To apply to take on one of the projects above, please send your proposal to INFO (at) ARK (dot) io or join our Slack and contact one of the ARK team representatives (BoldNinja, Mike, DJSelery, or Cannabanana). When submitting a proposal, please include the following:

  • A detailed outline of what you plan to build.
  • Examples of relevant previous work.
  • Names and contact info for all team members.
  • And a Timeline for completion.

Looking to create a team? You can find fellow developers in our #development channel on Slack — there are quite a few already with ideas and skills, so it could be a good place to find and join forces (maybe make some new cool friends or business partnerships)!

When Will I Get Paid?

Once we have selected your proposal, we will award 20% up front to help with development costs. The rest will be transferred on successful completion of the project.

How Long do I have to Apply?

The program will run for as long as it takes to fill the 10 available slots. That could mean a few days or it could mean several months. We will keep this post updated and give regular updates as projects are accepted.

Now roll up your sleeves and let’s get to work!
