Not every price you’re asked to pay is worth it, and not every price is yours to pay. We measure our worth by how much money we make, where we live, and the extent of our wardrobe. Money is an exchange of not only resources but our energy and time.

We exchange connecting and relating with people for parts of ourselves that nobody has ever known hoping they won’t shatter our trust. We exchange parts of our true hopes and dreams for what society says we should want.

We devote large amounts of our day carrying out performative tasks that kill our souls, everything you do in life is an exchange. Some practices seem unsuspectingly and harmless at first but ultimately dismantle your existence to the core.

Anything that costs you your peace is too expensive.

It’s not your job to keep friends and family around who constantly remind you of what you could be doing better, not in a productive way, but with malice.

And perhaps the most disheartening yearning is wanting to belong to someone but realizing that no matter how hard you try, some people simply do not fit. Eventually…
