The Armada Platform was built to improve supply chain collaboration, by providing the distributed ledger backbone for data interoperability and process automation. While the platform gained interest, the Armada Chain team noticed a trend that some supply chain companies were improving or building their own bespoke supply chain applications. Few tools existed for these companies and startups to develop supply chain-specific technology from scratch, and even less for decentralized ones. Stripping the Armada Platform to its core to provide the infrastructure needed for decentralized supply chain technology, the Armada Chain team created Open Waters.

Open Waters provides the developer-friendly tools needed to improve data collaboration in supply chain as well as the infrastructure required to build decentralized supply chain applications. Abstracting the functionality of the Armada Platform and Hedera Hashgraph, Open Waters consists of free to use, out of the box functions for users to build their own supply chain applications. Users can focus on building supply chain technology, without worrying about decentralized account management, retrieving data from the public ledger and security.

Users can decide to use Open Waters to incorporate the Armada Platform backbone to existing systems, or choose to use it to build on top of Armada for innovative supply chain applications. Open Waters also provides the basis for track and trace and process automation, speeding up development efforts and allowing anyone to build decentralized supply chain applications.

Due to Open Waters being part of the Armada ecosystem, all users are able to frictionlessly collaborate with other Armada Platform or Open Waters users. This encourages future interoperability and collaboration, but also seamless migration if Open Waters users want to transition to the Armada Platform for enhanced management over decentralized supply chain operations.

The Open Waters repository can be found here, and also can be accessed as a npm package. For those looking to further explore the Armada Platform for their supply chain or supply chain technologies, or implementing Open Waters, please reach out to contact@armadachain.io.
