The lights of the 2015 S1000RR are pretty behind. One of the most sophisticated bikes ever built still sports very simple yellowish H7 halogen bulbs. Let’s fix that.

Philips XtremeVision 12V T10 LED

Are my choice for replacing the daylight running lights:

The Default bulbs

These Philips LED lights are great. They look more like a 5000K light than the advertised 6000K. And the best thing is they don’t throw any error nor do they stay on for a long time like in the previous < 2015 S1000RR models.

Below you see the comparison of the original bulb and the new LED (right). If you wonder why the picture is so blue — it is due to the blue colored H7 Bulbs I’m just about to get to…

Philips — Diamond Vision H7

Is the choice for the low and high-beam. For the install you should wear gloves and try to avoid touching the glass at any cost. These bulbs get very very hot and any fat or grease on them will reduce their shorter lifespan by a lot. Shorter lifespan? Yup! Those bulbs look great, but a draw back is that they don’t last as long as normal H7 halogens. However you can get without any modifications to you bike to a pretty nice clean look.

Let’s compare default H7 and the 5000K Philips bulb

These pictures were taken with the same exposure and white balance to make the color and brightness comparable.

Default H7 low-beam
Philips — Diamond Vision H7 produces a very white light

As you can see in the comparison, the Philips — Diamond Vision H7 produces a much whiter light. Is it as bright or white as an HID? Of course not, but you get good looks for a good price and an plug and play installation that doesn’t violate any warranty.
