Welcome to Arnold Clark Digital Product Development

We’re the Digital Product Development team at Arnold Clark, Europe’s largest independent car dealer with more than 200 branches in the UK. With more than 70 developers and designers, we work on 9 customer-facing websites and 65 internal applications (at last count).

Our company was established in 1954 by Sir Arnold Clark, and DPD was created four years ago to take car retailing digital. We’re a little bit like the oldest start-up company out there.

What do we do in Digital Product Development?

  • We work on customer-facing websites like our vehicle search and enquiry funnel at ArnoldClark.com, our Car and Van Rental site, and Online Booking, which allows customers to arrange an MOT or car service.
  • We build internal applications for our sales people and dealerships, helping them to provide great customer service, and to make the process of buying a car as straightforward and transparent as possible.
  • We create tools to help other teams, like our design system Chassis, to rapidly build user interfaces in our projects; Gearbox, our in-house content management system for Marketing to build landing pages for new car launches and campaigns; and Piston, to ease the pain of creating email templates that work across different email clients and web interfaces. We also like naming things after cars.
