What We’re Reading, Watching, and Eating This Month

As a team, we share a lot of blog posts, videos, and meals each month. Here are our top picks for the month of January:

5 Social Media Trends to Expect in 2018

HubSpot’s Sophia Bernazzani writes a brief, but informative and data-driven blog post on the trends that will change social media in 2018. We were already aware of some of these changes, such as the increasing difficulty for monetization of channels, which was one of the things we considered when we wrote our piece: 2018 The Year of Decentralized Social Media Marketing.

One of the biggest talking points around the office was how to make use of the growing popularity of Live video for brands in all industries.

Do 3rd-Party Social Media Tools Negatively Affect Reach & Engagement?

In an interesting study published by Buffer, they took a look at whether using 3rd party tools like Buffer and Hootsuite might impact results. The answer to that question is no, but there are other hidden gems in the results of this study that had our team discussing best practices for social media going forward.

Check out the post, and be sure to look at the graphics and charts showing results of different post types, and different platforms.

Social Media Trends to Put Into Practice in 2018

This webinar explored 5 more social media trends (detecting a pattern here?) that’ll help you employ a successful social media marketing strategy in 2018. Again, live video was a big talking point for us here in the office, and we liked some of the ideas put forward and discussed regarding that type of content. Definitely worth the watch.

Instagram Stories

A bit of an odd one here, but we’ve been watching our Instagram follower’s stories with interest, especially those like Foundr who used it to promote a new ebook, Adweek that showed us a behind the scenes look at the Grammys, and Forbes which interviewed celebs on the red carpet.

Brands are using Instagram stories in a way that varies, if only slightly, from Snapchat stories, and we’re curious to see how this type of social content continues to evolve. Plus, the stories are genuinely entertaining!

Naked Lunch Miami’s Taco Tuesday Special

Being located just downstairs, Naked Lunch is becoming a favorite around the office both for its convenience and the fact that the food tastes darn good. Our current favorite is their Taco Tuesday special which includes 3 excellent tacos and a side of rice/beans that’s to die for. Chips and salsa also come with the meal and don’t disappoint!

If you’re ever in the area, stop by and get a bite there. You may just bump into our team!
