What your normal day would be like when blockchain conquers the world (in the nearest future)

Alexey Zakharov

Flash forward to 2023 when blockchain projects that you would have seen on ICO for a whole decade by then have finally solved some of their energy and pricing issues.

You wake up, post a cute sleepy selfie and get paid, go open the fridge and get paid for finding a token in the breakfast box you bought yesterday from a nearby market. Then you go to work picking up hitchhikers on the way and get crypto for meeting new people. At work you develop a new DApp for one of the products in your company. After work, you go on a date through another DApp that pays each party for spending good time together. When you get home in the evening, all you need to do to get the “good night” crypto is turn off the lights everywhere in the house and be rewarded for saving energy for all the transactions that you’ve made throughout the day — because, let’s face it, 2023 is close enough and transactions still burn energy like crazy.

Sounds a bit cuckoo?..

…I doubt it’s far from reality. Seriously, just have a look at the current blockchain projects that have come out of ICOs. Take us for example, we strive to make DApp creation accessible to all by introducing a new programming paradigm. Imagine kids making a DApp as a school project, or a housewife gamifying chores for her family.

The following does not include any work of imagination — only pure facts drawn from ICO alert.

Here we are now — entertain us

The recent projects cover so many topics that you can almost feel it with your skin how all the aspects of life are being cryptonized — finance, law, environment, real estate, travel, healthcare, social and personal life.

One of the flourishing industries that blockchain business actively engulfs is online gaming. It doesn’t even have to be about gambling — decentralized gaming guarantees fair rewards to the winners who can finally profit from their time-consuming hobby. Just think about how great it would be to get paid for a mod that you’ve been writing so tenaciously for Europa Universalis. With some platforms, you can already do that. Sometimes, however, the tokens you earn for mods or in-game assets cannot be exchanged for real money (so look out for disclaimers about exchanges).

Another interesting blockchain gaming solution is an analogue of PokemonGo that uses augmented reality mode to locate containers with crypto around you. To start collecting coins, you need to register a wallet with this system and use their coins to buy benefits. The cunning part is that advertisers can cooperate with these guys to locate the chests closer to their products.

I’ve got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

And if we take our everyday lives — many projects are focused on bringing people closer, helping us find each other to establish both professional and personal relationships. For example, there are platforms for mutual job offers by/to models and photographers. Both can share their portfolios and find each other. And some platforms are dedicated to making video journalism more dynamic by paying people for their videos from events worth talking about.

But what’s really intriguing is the idea to get paid for meeting new people. That’s right, it’s already out there. The advocates of these projects claim to reinvent social websites — instead of scrolling down personal pages and learning all about the likes and dislikes of someone before meeting them, you first see and hear a person in a short video and then decide if you want to meet with them. It’s not just about dating — members of these platforms are supposed to post a short video any time they feel like having company — to go to the movies, grab a bite to eat or go shopping together. To see what’s out there, you can select a category (e.g. movie) and see short videos of people who invite you to join them.

The ultimate idea behind most blockchain projects is eliminating the intermediary between the people on both sides who just need to share something with each other. This can be seen in DApps that try to simplify travel, renting flats, finding gyms, food delivery, and so on.

In travel, it’s the idea of creating an autonomous smart ecosystem that would enable efficient and customizable ticketing, billing, settlement, and payment. In finding accommodation, we’ve already seen attempts of the community to organize peer-to-peer deals but today the commision for using these websites makes you think twice. Blockchain eliminates the middleman and allows people to rent apartments by sealing the deal with smart contracts.

More often than not, DApps intend to help people make passive income while doing something they are used to anyway. The epitome of this idea is perhaps making profit from your social media data. With blockchain, you can be your own manager and sell any data about yourself to advertising agencies or researchers. I’m sure it’s no secret to anybody that our data is being sold dozens of times every day without our knowledge. So if you’re worried about data protection, why not take matters into your own hands and control where your information goes to?

In fact, we can think bigger than that. How about making your digital representation work instead of you? Or what if… hold it.. you could become immortal? There are blockchain projects that allow to create an avatar of yourself that has the same traits, skills, and qualifications as you. This sounds like a quixotic project, but they claim you can train it by paying for communication with other avatars in the community. The better the training, the more you can relax afterwards. Moreover, this avatar can stay and provide for your family when you die.

And finally, the cherry on the pie — the adult industry. Now it’s on blockchain too! Let me confine myself to one sentence here. It’s doing all the same stuff as before but using IPFS and providing easy access to more peer-to-peer home video streams.

I guess now you can add a couple of corrections to my initial futuristic daily routine. Or maybe you would add a new touch to your own business. Let us know if you’ve found inspiration in the ideas above and suggest edits to my vision of 2023.
