As a CIO you want to make decisions based on transparency. You want to know what your peers are buying and how they arrive to their decisions. You want to learn from your peers rather than rely on backward-facing reports and manipulated data.

So when Mayank Mehta and Anand Thaker reached out to me with the idea of Pulse to solve exactly these problems for the CIO I was thrilled by the ambition of it. Array was the first investor in Pulse back in April 2017 and we are very excited by the strides they have made since. I had first met Mayank when he founded Cooliris.

Pulse’s approach is refreshing. They are starting by targeting CIOs. Their goal is to give IT executives real-time, bite-sized data gathered from thousands of their peers, removing the middle men from the equation. When we met up at a coffee shop, Mayank’s pitch to me was very compelling. He said, “Too many of our leaders today turn to small personal networks and out-of-touch reports to drive decision making. Why not go to peers who have just worked through the same issue in the last quarter?”

Since we invested that first cheque in Pulse Q&A, they have gone through Y-Combinator, attracted attention from many star CIOs (Facebook, Twitter, Palantir to name a few) and build a community of thousands of IT executives learning from one another.

When I invest in a company, I am keen to take a hands on approach in helping them grow. For Pulse Q&A, it was giving them access to my network of CIOs and encouraging other investors to back this young company. I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with a humble, hardworking and world class team to take this company to the next level.

Few weeks ago, Pulse announced a $4m round lead by True Ventures. If you are a C-level exec join Pulse and get your transparent reports to make your decisions with ease.
