The IntimART Series on Art Cured presents:

Finding Vitality in Lines by Salma Zerhoudi

The first artist presented as part of the #IntimARTseries is Salma Zerhoudi. She is Moroccan and is currently based in Frankfurt, Germany. #ArtCured is proud to present and dissect Zerhoudi’s art as part of the #IntimARTseries.

The artwork that is presented as part of Zerhoudi’s collection is called « Lebendigkeit in Linien Finden » which, in English, means Finding Vitality in Lines.

In her project, Zerhoudi aims to explore folds in our clothes as a representative of movement and life. In parallel to the physicality of living, Zerhoudi questions our worth as humans in current society and poses important questions regarding how we allow materialist and consumerist ideals to define us.

She imitates movement using brush strokes and completes the work using digital design technology. In her artwork, the strokes can be pictured as rounded, with a curvature that is parallel to that of a human being’s body highlighting possibly the arms, legs, and hips.

Furthermore, Zerhoudi uses a muted colour palette one which has been stripped of its saturation signifying a drainage in particular. In this case, she expresses the depletion that consumerist ideals can cause on a personal level with the use of these muted colours including a pinkish beige, teal, and a blue that is similar to a Federal blue. With the brush strokes coming down the canvas, at the same axis as the spine, the human expression lives through the layers of silenced colours that contrast at their seams.
