If you’re anything like me, you’d much rather be writing than spending time tracking down tools and resources for building your writing career. Well, I decided awhile back that someone (me) should do this hard work, so that the rest of the world’s writers could focus on what you do best. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by information overload, so I’m going to publish these resources slowly over time (if you really don’t want to wait, here’s a place you can find more great tools and resources for writers.)

Where to Get Reviews

It’s no secret that writers need readers to read and review their books. If you’re self-publishing, then this is an important part of your marketing strategy. The difficulty, of course, is where do you go to get those reviews? The following websites help authors find readers to review their books.

1. The Book Blogger List

[The Book Blogger List was created] to help book bloggers find like-minded bloggers and help authors find book bloggers that might be interested in their book.

2. The Book Bag

Here at Bookbag Towers we love to receive books from you. We don’t guarantee to review them but we do cover an excellent proportion of what we are sent.

3. Book Reviewer Yellow Pages

Helping authors get book reviews since 2009. Our free book reviewer list is the most popular book reviewer list on the web!

4. LibraryThing

You already know about GoodReads, but are you familiar with LibraryThing? You can use both places to find readers interested in your genre, who may also be willing to review your book.

5. Words Into Print

A large list of book reviewers including a timeline (when to submit to each one).

Promotional Tools

6. Author Marketing Club

Join thousands of authors who want to promote their books! Free book marketing resources & tools.

7. eBookBooster

Busy Writing? We’ll Submit Your eBook to 45+ Sites.

8. Story Bundle

StoryBundle is a way for people who love to read to discover quality indie books written by indie authors.

Publishing Tools

9. Atavist

Writing and designing on the web shouldn’t feel like going to the DMV. Our goal is to enable creative individuals and organizations to produce beautiful and shareable stories, attract new audiences, and build business around their work — without knowing a line of code.

10. Tablo

Tablo reminds me a good deal of Medium, but focused on writers of fiction.

It’s a single home to write & discover great stories.

Etc.

11. (Bonus!) Indie Author Fringe

Indie Author Fringe offers FREE ONLINE DAY CONFERENCES for authors interested in self-publishing. We offer the best self-publishing advice and education for indie authors across the world — using the global reach of the ALLi network.
