Frequently Asked Questions
I live in Small Town, Iowa with my husband, two children, eight cats and our pet snake, Cornelius. I enjoy reading, libraries, DIY, coffee, gardening, withdrawing from society and watching really bad movies on purpose.
I graduated from the Studio Arts Company in New York and earned a degree in Creative Writing from Rio Salado College. I’ve been writing stories and creating art ever since.
I consider myself creative but not because it’s stereotypical for depressed people who eat their feelings, nap too much and hoard books to be creative. It’s because I just am. I like to think of myself as a writer who creates art and vice versa.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When did you start writing?
A: During my teenage years I dabbled with personal journal writing where I wrote about my emo thoughts and feelings. I also included a doodle here and there.
Q: Are you a published writer?
A: Yes, I am a published writer. My stories and articles have been published in over a dozen major publications. I feel publishing sucks or perhaps it’s just not for me. I won’t list any of the publications in fear they might get pissed now that I’ve said that and I’ll have nothing to fall back on in the event I go broke and need to feed my family.
Q: What types of stories do you write?
A: I write personal essays, literary journalism, cultural commentary pieces and really funny shit.
Q: Is it true you’ve had published stories translated into three foreign languages?
A: Yes, but I can’t read them because I’m not fluent in German, Chinese or Arabic.
Q: How are you able to complete so many projects at one time?
A: I’m manic and work best scattered and under pressure.
Q: Where can I view your artwork?
Q: How did you and Joe get together?
A: I was super hot and he wanted me, bad. I was enchanted by his desire to read spy novels, wear khaki pants and go to sleep at 8:00 PM every night.
Q: Is there a lot of corn in Iowa?
A: Yes, but there’s also a lot of other things.
Q: Do I HAVE to clean my room?
A: AND YES
