These following 4 tips will keep your email out of the trash folder and give you the attention you deserve. There’s a few things bloggers, radio stations, and recording labels can’t stand and things they love and I cover them in this article :) Hope you guys enjoy!

1. You should always follow all instructions.

I can’t believe that I have to go through this at all but, so many submissions that I receive don’t follow this simple rule.

If the record label or blog says to send one submission only don’t send three that’ll only get you ignored or your email deleted. ALWAYS follow instructions.

2. Keep it short but straight-to-the-point

Many recording labels & blogs receive 100s of emails daily so, try to keep everything short and straight-to-the-point. Some prefer spelling and grammar to be correct so always proofread.
You should include a paragraph about yourself, the song, the press you received, a way to stream the music(private is the preferable method), and contact information. That’s all!

3. Stop sending boring bios

When recording labels say send short bios we don’t mean “Hip-hop artist from Florida”. WE WANT MORE what makes you different, what are your aspirations, things like that you can still keep it short and creative. like this one. ⤵

And of course add a bit more lines maybe but you get the point but keep it straight-to-the-point you can always add a short and a long bio too depending on what the recording label or blog requests.

4. No iTunes link.

This is another one that I can’t believe I’m covering:

no one is going to buy music they never heard first and foremost.

and next, remember the 100s of email that recording labels and blogs receive when there are 50 more emails do you think that someone will be willing to go the trouble of buying your music.

Always send stream-able links, many include I prefer a private SoundCloud link if the song isn’t released yet or a Spotify link but nearly 90% of the industry actually prefers listening on SoundCloud it’s faster to check your music out and reply if they need to and because of the many viruses going around sending music to be downloaded will usually be avoided and because of the limited time that this person may have they won’t even reply to your submission so, make sure to follow this tip!

These tips will surely catch recording labels, bloggers, and more attention and will keep your demo out of the trash although some of these tips are common sense some are also easy to forget so with that being said, I WISH YOU THE BEST!
