As a marketing manager your job is to make sure your company is seen in a positive light in all of its aspects. You need to develop teams to help with marketing ideas for social media, advertising campaigns, public relations opportunities, and more. Developing a winning team can make the difference between a successful marketing campaign and one that might end up seeming disjointed or broken. Team building exercises and ideas can help keep your team at the top of their form and help them keep the creative juices flowing. Here are eight team building exercises for marketing managers that will have your team creatively coming up with solutions and ideas in no time.

Trapeze school

One way to build trust and obtain empathy is to fall off of a very high up and very small platform. Taking your team to trapeze school will be fun and thrilling while also making them emphatic for their team members. The thrill of flying around in the air will help clean out the cobwebs in their head and give them an experience they will remember forever.

Chili cook off

This is a fun way to be creative and competitive. Have your team participate in an office chili cook off. Team members will learn more about their team by trying their chili and listening to the background stories. This event will help foster team spirit and competitiveness while getting team members closer. As a bonus any extra chili can be given to other office members to foster a spirit of inclusiveness.

Dinner guests

This is a fun and quick game that people enjoy playing. Ask your team members what famous person, alive or dead, they would invite to a dinner party and why. Your team will get to know one another a little better and build communication.

Dancing

Take your team out for a night of dancing. Find a local dance studio and learn the hustle while getting to know your team members better. Most dance studios offer group lessons as a way to help build teams. Exercising outside of the office can help your team be more creative and inspired.

Office picnic

Find a unique park or landmark near your office and take the team on a picnic lunch. You can find out about the landmark or park and have a relaxing day outside of the office. Each team member can be responsible for an appetizer, chips and dip, sandwiches, and desserts for the team. Everyone can work together to plan the outing and be creative with their menu ideas. A day out of the office will be a great way for the team to bond.

Trivia night

Take your team out to a local trivia night event. Your team can come up with a creative name and compete against other teams for gift certificates or money. Trivia nights can be a fun time to get to know one another and see where your strengths and weaknesses are. You just may find out that Tim who has worked in the office for ten years was once in a punk rock band. Trivia nights are a great way to compete and be creative outside of the office.

Community service

Giving back to the community where you are working is a great cause and an awesome team builder. You can volunteer to paint houses or pick up trash in a local park. Volunteering will help boost your team’s spirits and show the local community that you care about and appreciate them. Your team will work together for a good cause and your company will get their name out in the public eye. This is a great marketing effort and team building exercise all rolled into one.

Exercise

Encourage your team to get together to exercise outside of the office. They can go to the gym together or walk on a trail at lunch or after work. They may choose to run in the morning together or go for a bike ride. Getting out and doing things together is what is important to building a great team that shines creatively.
