After, a discussion via Facebook with a few artists we talked about the importance of still using CDs in 2017 and why many artists are more focused on streaming.

There’s was so many valid points and that most likely influenced the change amongst a few of my Facebook friends and as a music marketer.

I honestly forget the power of the CD and how it has always been the old school “street marketing” tool. — Tweet this

Fort Myers, Florida rapper “Gio Babi” which is a very lyrical and amazing rapper which I support made various valid points which I honestly had no choice but to agree with. He pointed out how many rappers including Lucci and more used CDs to get their music out to a mass audience.

He also made a super valid point where he basically said that we as artists should start looking at CDs as merch which I also had no choice but to agree with. I agree that CDs are still being used in 2017 and still stand as a somewhat effective promotional tool even in the digital age that we are in although CDs are declining in sales compared to streaming. It’s better to have CDs than to not have them when you need them.

We should and could pass out CDs after live performances, to people in different cities, start street teams to pass out or sell CDS and give CDs a chance again!
